When Shoe Company CEBO (Chech Boot) designed its trademark 5210-model as an answer to the Western Shoe Revolution, lead by Converse’s Chuck Taylor ‘Basketball Shoe’, it was completely unaware of the way it was about to shape cult history. The 5210 became a milestone in iconic footwear, unparalleled in design, coolness and comfort. The soviet sneaker quickly revealed itself as an unpretentious hit in countries where it was introduced- turning the 5210 into an underground gem for years to come. The legend continued to radiate its urban charm, appealing to hoards of eager adepts who dearly cherished this symbol of soviet craftsmanship. If it weren't for two such devotees in Belgium, the story would have ended in 2009 when production was discontinued.
The only way for a true legend to live on is for it to find a new cause. The shoes, though still produced in the original factory in Partizan, have been summoned to a new era of cool, in which nostalgia is no longer a thing of the past- it's something to be worn. The once so popular Cebo's are ready to proudly salute a future in which their role will undoubtedly be as ubiquitous as it once was, in the haydays of true street culture. The new tricolor consists of red, blue and green and the patron saints of bold, are Belgian. Stars need to be thanked for reanimating an icon that so clearly still had a mission to complete. This next chapter in footwear history is called "Komrad Invasion"- a new battle is about to be won.
